The City

 

Szeged is a dynamic university city in southern Hungary, known for its sunny weather, elegant architecture, and strong academic tradition. The Venue

 

The conference will take place at the Institute of Biology, University of Szeged, located on the left bank of the Tisza River, in the Újszeged district. The institute is easily accessible by public transportation (see details below) and is just a short walk across the river from the city center.

Travel from Budapest to Szeged 

 

Szeged is connected to Budapest by a direct train line. From Budapest International Airport (Liszt Ferenc Airport), you can take bus 200E, which departs from Terminal 2. The train station called ʻFerihegy vasútállomásʼ is the fifth stop from the airport. and is within walking distance from the bus stop. From here, you can board a train to Szeged (which is the final stop on the line).

You can check train schedules at jegy.mav.hu or via the MÁV mobile app. The journey from Budapest to Szeged takes approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes, although delays of 10–20 minutes are common.


For a more convenient option, you can book a private airport transfer to Szeged at zoldtranszfer.hu, or use a carpooling service such as motar.eu, where you can find drivers offering seats between Budapest and Szeged.


Transportation in Budapest 


For public transportation in Budapest, you can purchase tickets from vending machines, kiosks, or via the Közlekedési Mobiljegy or Budapest Go mobile apps. The standard single ticket is called ʻvonaljegyʼ and costs 450 HUF.

 

Important: Tickets must be purchased before boarding and validated on the vehicle.

Transportation in Szeged

 

From the train station, you can take tram lines 1 or 2 to ʻSzéchenyi térʼ. From there, most destinations in Szeged are within walking distance. 


To reach the conference venue, the nearest bus stop is ʻKözép fasorʼ, located almost directly in front of the building. The Institute is most easily accessed via bus lines 72 and 72A, which provide a direct connection between ʻSzéchenyi térʼ and ʻKözép fasorʼ.


Local tickets (single tickets, 60-minute tickets, 24- and 72-hour tickets) can be purchased from vending machines, kiosks, via the Közlekedési Mobiljegy mobile app, or directly on board. On board you can buy tickets either from the on-board ticket machine (card payment only) or from the driver (cash only), although the latter is more expensive.

Important: Tickets must be validated immediately upon boarding. Inspections are quite frequent, so travelling without a validated ticket is strongly discouraged.
